About Us

Top Non-Profit Organization for Organ Donor in Decatur

In 2010, The Providers Group, Inc launched the website to provide education, advocacy, referrals, and resources, as well as to raise awareness to increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors in the African American community.
Anisha Q. Addison August 31, 1981 to September 29, 2018
Anisha was just 26 years old when she was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease. On September 29, 2018 at 3:37pm., Anisha transitioned from a beautiful earthbound angel into a spirit. Anisha donated her eyes so that she could continue to see human life from someone else’s perspective, her tissue, skin and veins to help another feel, pump blood, and live a worthy earthbound life. Anisha knew the importance of being a donor, and helping someone else live, because she herself received a kidney from her aunt Tamila. The kidney Anisha received lasted five years and gave us time to see this beautiful lady dedicate herself to helping young girls get out of sex trafficking and sexually abusive relationships through her non-profit New Path in Milwaukee, WI. Anisha also helped her aunt Tatia finish the transcriptions for her dissertation: The Experience of African Americans Who Have Chosen to Become Organ Donors Despite Traditional Family Values: A Case Study. That is who Anisha was, always giving of herself and leaving pieces of her love everywhere. Anisha lost her battle with kidney disease on September 29, 2018, When her body began to reject the donor kidney she had received from her aunt in 2011. However, another organ donor would have saved her life.
When we think about her, we think about all the lives that can be saved when you donate your organs. Donating is an act of love for everyone who shares this existence.
